The Faculty of Dramatic Arts will enroll 86 students in the first year of Undergraduate Studies for the school year of 2019/2020, as follows: up to 57 budget-financed students and up to 29 self-financed students.

1. All applicants for enrollment take the affinities and abilities test, as a requirement for enrollment. Exam for testing affinities and abilities, taken separately for each study program, includes: talent testing, i.e. necessary knowledge in main or related subjects; testing mental and physical capabilities, affinities and personality traits necessary for artistic work, namely a specific profession in the field of dramatic arts taught at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts. Testing includes practical tasks, oral examinations, written papers, tests, and interviews.
2. Persons holding a four-year high school diploma are eligible for enrollment as well as persons without high school diploma if they pass specific additional test as per the curriculum for high schools specialized in social and linguistic sciences in the following subjects: a) Serbian Language and Literature, b) History, c) Foreign Language (English, French, German, or Russian) and d) Arts (Visual Arts and Music).
3. The order of applicants for enrollment in the first year of undergraduate academic studies is determined on the basis of the average grade achieved in high school and results of the affinities and abilities test. An applicant can earn a maximum of 100 points.
4. The average grade in high school (GPA) is the sum of average grades in all subjects in the first, second, third and fourth year. The high school average grade is rounded up to two decimals. On that basis, an applicant can earn minimum 8 or maximum 20 points.
An applicant can earn 0-80 points on the affinities and abilities test.
5. Only the applicant who passes the affinities and abilities test can be ranked on the single ranking list. The Faculty ranks the applicants who have passed the affinities and abilities test according to the number of total points earned: government-funded (tuition-free) students are ranked above self-funded students.
6. Students can be government-funded if they are ranked up to the number approved for enrollment of applicants which are exempt from tuition, which is determined by this application process, and have at least 51 points.
An applicant can be enrolled as a self-funded student, if he/she is ranked above the number approved for enrollment of self-funded students on the single ranking list, which is determined by this application process, and has more than 30 points.
7. If two applicants have the same number of points, an applicant who has a higher number of points in the affinities and abilities test will be ranked higher.
8. The Faculty determines and publishes the order of applicants, which is the basis for enrollment of applicants in accordance with the general provisions of the joint application process for enrollment of students for the school year 2019/2020.
The tuition fee at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts for the school year 2019/2020 for self-funded students of the undergraduate academic studies is RSD 220,000.00.
The tuition fee for foreign citizens from neighboring countries (Republic of Hungary, Romania, Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Croatia and Montenegro) for school year 2019/2020 at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts is RSD 330,000.00.
The tuition fee for foreign citizens for school year 2019/2020 at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts is RSD 440,000.00.
Undergraduate academic studies in study programs of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts last four years (8 semesters, 240 ECTS credits).
Opportunities to continue studies: master academic studies, then doctoral academic studies.

EXAM FOR TESTING
AFFINITIES AND ABILITIES PROGRAM
1. ACTING
The exam consists of two elimination parts:
First pats (WIDER SELECTION) and second part (SHORTLIST)
Program of the first elimination part:
a) recitation (of the applicant's choice)
b) drama monologue (of the applicant's choice)
c) monologue from the comedy of a national comediograph
The applicant is required to learn by heart and prepare all three tasks. After the program is shown, the exam board may ask an applicant to perform additional tasks (improvisations) to gain a more comprehensive insight into the applicant’s abilities.
POINTS SYSTEM
IN THE FIRST, elimination part, an applicant can earn a maximum of 5 points.
An applicant who, in the FIRST part of the entrance examination, earns a MINIMUM OF 3 points, takes the SECOND part of the entrance examination (SHORTLIST).
THE SECOND elimination part (SHORTLIST) consists of work with teachers, writing a written assignment, and the final ability test. During the testing process in the second elimination part, in order to determine the necessary level of acting talent, teachers and associates use tests, conversations, exercises and rehearsals to examine: characteristics of speech and vocal apparatus, voice, sense of rhythm, physical ability, stamina and mobility and personality characteristics: traits, imagination, flexibility in work.
In the second elimination part, the exam board reviews and determines the results of each applicant's ability test based on the following:
a) The exam board evaluates the results of applicant's voice and speech test;
b) The exam board evaluates the results of applicant’s movement and appearance test;
c) The exam board evaluates the results of applicant's ability to achieve a distinctive acting expression.
POINTS SYSTEM
In the SECOND round an applicant can earn up to 75 points.
a) Applicants’ voice and speech abilities are rated with 0 to 10 points.
b) Scenic movement – the applicant's physical abilities are rated with 0 to 10 points.
c) An applicant’s ability to achieve a distinctive acting expression is rated with 0 to 55 points.
Points from the FIRST and the SECOND round are added together.
2. DRAMATIC AND AUDIO VISUAL ARTS
THEATRE AND RADIO DIRECTING MODULE
the affinities and abilities test consists of two elimination parts:
1. part (wider selection) and 2. part (shortlist)
FIRST PART
a. Written paper (to be submitted with the application in two copies) – “Pučina” (The High Seas) Branislav Nušić, directorial analysis of the piece and proposal of stage realization (from 10 to 15 pages).
A paper must include the following elements:

b. Motivation letter (to be submitted with the application in two copies; it should contain up to 3600 characters)
Paper includes the following elements:

2. Who am I (characteristics, interests and past activities)
3. What are my expectations from the theater directing studies
c. Written examination
Theatrical art knowledge test
d. The oral examination before the exam board of the Theater and Radio Directing Department (explanation of the assumptions from the written paper, examination of basic knowledge in the field of theater, dramatic literature, understanding of the required literature)
After the oral examination, the exam board decides which applicants will qualify for the second part of the exam.
POINTS SYSTEM
The first part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 5 points, as follows:
A – Written paper is rated with 0-1 point;
B – Written examination (theatrical art knowledge test) is rated with 0-1 point;
C – Oral examination is rated with 0-3 points.
An applicant who earns a minimum of 3 points qualifies for the second elimination part of the exam.
SECOND PART

3. practical directing assignment – exercise: two people in a conflict without dialogue
4. practical assignment performance before the exam board

POINTS SYSTEM
The second part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 75 points.
DRAMATURGY MODULE
Applicants are required to submit one of their dramas (theater play, or scenario for a half-hour film or TV-film, or radio drama), or theoretical paper in the field of theater or film dramaturgy when applying for the entrance examination.
The submitted piece may be unpublished or published before. The submitted piece should be typed on a computer in Serbian, printed and submitted in five bound and signed copies.
The affinities and abilities test consists of two elimination parts.
FIRST PART
a) Applicants watch a film and then write an analysis of the film.
b) Applicants write one drama scene on a given topic for the medium of their choice (theater, film, radio or television).
c) The exam board reads and performs an expert analysis of the submitted piece (theater play, or scenario for a film or TV-film, or radio drama, or theoretical paper) of each applicant.
The exam board then evaluates the portfolio (submitted piece, film analysis and drama scene on a given topic) of each applicant, ranks the applicants by the number of points earned and decides which applicants qualify for the second part of the exam.
POINTS SYSTEM
The first part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 10 points:
A – An applicant’s film analysis is rated with 0-3 points;
B – Drama scene written on a given topic is rated with 0-3 points;
C – An applicant’s submitted piece is rated with 0-4 points.
An applicant who earns a minimum of 6 points qualifies for the second part of the exam.
SECOND PART
The second elimination part of the entrance examination is an oral examination which each applicant takes before the exam board.
The oral examination includes a discussion on each piece from the applicant’s portfolio.
The exam board then examines and determines through the interview with the applicant:
- the scope of knowledge and the level of understanding of required and recommended literature from the list specified in the Application Process Requirements;
- the scope of general knowledge in the field of theory and the history of theater and film;
- the scope of knowledge about world and national drama, theater, film and television series;
- the applicant’s general knowledge with emphasis on world and national literature classics which the applicant has read;
- the applicant’s artistic and aesthetic affinities.
POINTS SYSTEM
The second part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 70 points.
The final ranking list is created by adding points from the FIRST and SECOND round to the points that the applicant has from high school.
FILM AND TELEVISION DIRECTING MODULE
Each applicant is obliged, when submitting the documents, to attach the following exercise:
A film, duration up to ten minutes (to be submitted in mp4 or QuickTime format, in H264 codec, at USB flash, formatted in FAT32 system, and electronically, via a personal YouTube/Vimeo link, to the address: ftvrezija@fdu.bg.ac.rs).
The exam consists of three elimination parts:
First part
a) Written film and general knowledge test,
Note: The test contains 30 questions. An applicant who answers 60% of the questions correctly qualifies for the analysis a film and the execution of directing tasks.
POINTS SYSTEM
The first part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 3 points, as follows:
If the applicant answers correctly to 18-24 questions, he/she is rated with 1 point.
If the applicant answers correctly to 25-27 questions, he/she is rated with 2 points.
If the applicant answers correctly to 28-30 questions, he/she is rated with 3 points.
b) Brief analysis of the film – written,
c) Execution of directing tasks – written.
Second part
Oral examination (interview with the applicant, presentation of the film, defense of the directing tasks, film analysis, testing general film and television knowledge on the basis of required literature).
POINTS SYSTEM
The second part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 7 points.
An applicant who earns a minimum of 4 points qualifies for the third elimination part of the exam.
Third part
- Practical exercises:
a) Filming a short documentary exercise in the field, using video equipment,
b) Editing a short documentary exercise with the help of a demonstrator,
c) Filming a short drama scene,
d) Editing a short drama exercise with the help of a demonstrator.
- Theoretical exercises:
e) Oral defense of practical exercises,
f) Questions from the required literature.
POINTS SYSTEM
The third part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 70 points.
FILM AND TELEVISION PRODUCTION MODULE
The exam consists of four elimination parts:
First part
WRITTEN TEST of basic knowledge in the field of cinema, television and general knowledge, which consists of 60 questions. About 50% of all questions is from the field of cinematography and television, on the basis of literature specified in the application process requirements. The questions are answered by choosing the correct one from the three offered answers. The duration of the test is 15 minutes, and applicants who have at least 41 correct answers are considered to have passed the test.
POINTS SYSTEM
The first part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 6 points.
An applicant who earns a minimum of 4.1 points qualifies for the second elimination part of the exam.
Second part
WRITTEN PAPER, on a given topic in the field of cinema and television, is given a code and rated with grades from 5 to 10. Grades include: the way the topic is presented, literacy, style, degree of use of literature, personal view of the applicant. Applicants have two hours to write the paper. Applicants who earn a grade less than 7 for the written paper cannot continue with exams.
POINTS SYSTEM
The second part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 4 points.
An applicant who earns a minimum of 1 point qualifies for the third part of the exam.
Third part
PRACTICAL TEST OF CREATIVE ABILITIES – consists of two parts:
- Individual production analysis of a film or television show, with
an oral defense.
b) Collectively solve a production task, with an oral defense.
Fourth part
AN INTERVIEW with the applicants.
During the interview with the applicants, affinities, creative abilities and personal characteristics of an applicant, his/her general interests and suitability for the studies are considered.
POINTS SYSTEM
Third and fourth part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 70 points.
CAMERA MODULE
Applicants are obliged to prepare:
- Photo collection selected from their previous work. The collection should consist of 9-15 photographs, 20x30 cm (A4) format. Photos should not be mounted and should be without passe-partout. Every photo and envelope in which they are submitted should be signed with the applicant's name and surname. Applicants are obliged to upload the selected photo collection to their personal account that they will create on the website www.behance.net. The address of the account with photos needs to be sent to e-mail: fdukatedrakamere@gmail.com, and applicant’s name and surname need to be specified in the Subject of the e-mail.
- USB flash drive with one or more individually made video exercise edited in a single unit, with a duration of up to 5 minutes. The format of exercises that applicants submit must be: Mpg 4 / H264 / 25 fps / 1920x1080 / 20 mbps. USB flash drive or the envelope in which it is submitted should be signed with applicant's name and surname. Applicants are obliged to upload video exercises to their personal account that they will create on the website www.vimeo.com. The address of the account with video exercises needs to be sent to e-mail: fdukatedrakamere@gmail.com, and applicant’s name and surname need to be specified in the Subject of the e-mail.
- Note: Exercises need to be in the specified format only. Exercises in a different format, regardless of whether they are on the specified media, will not be accepted.
These exercises must be submitted together with application forms.
The exam consists of three elimination parts:
FIRST PART
Taking photos on specific topics. Photos must be taken on a digital camera provided by the applicant. The task is the same for all applicants. After the shooting and the selection of photos, the applicants orally defend their photos before the exam board.
POINTS SYSTEM
An applicant can earn a maximum of 5 points. An applicant who earns a minimum of 3 points qualifies for the second elimination part of the exam.
SECOND PART
Shooting a short film on specified topics. Applicants record with their own equipment. The task is the same for all applicants.

An applicant can earn a maximum of 5 points. An applicant who earns a minimum of 3 points qualifies for the third elimination part of the exam.
THIRD PART
a) Written visual, film and general knowledge test.
b) Interview – visual, general and technical knowledge and awareness test, visual expression and communication aptitude test, film and television activities affinities and abilities test, knowledge of one world language and computer basics test.
POINTS SYSTEM
Written test and interview are rated as a whole. An applicant can earn a maximum of 70 points.
Note: In order to participate in the application process, and later for the study program, it is necessary for the applicants to have the following equipment:
a) digital SLR camera,
b) tripod,
c) light meter,
d) computer equipped for image processing.
EDITING MODULE
In order to apply, applicants must submit application forms together with a video-autobiography on a DVD as a mp4 or mov file in h.264 compression, up to three minutes in length, which should clearly and understandably point out important biographical elements in an articulated edited unit. The applicant should demonstrate the ability to create an audiovisual self-portrait, and the technical quality of the presentation is not crucial.
When taking the second part of the entrance examination, applicants should bring, as a backup, a USB drive with their autobiography.
The exam consists of three elimination parts:
FIRST PART
A written test of basic knowledge in the field of film, television art history, computer science and general knowledge consists of 60 questions. Applicants who answer at least 38 test questions correctly qualify for the second part of the exam.
POINTS SYSTEM
The first part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 2 points, as follows:
If the applicant answers correctly to 38-49 questions, he/she is rated with 1 point.
If the applicant answers correctly to 50-60 questions, he/she is rated with 2 points.
An applicant who earns a minimum of 1 point qualifies for the second elimination part of the exam.
SECOND PART
Oral examination testing applicants' affinities towards film and television editing. Film inserts and submitted practical exercise are analyzed.

SOUND RECORDING AND DESIGN MODULE
The entrance examination is a requirement for all applicants.
A photo submitted with the required documents should clearly show the applicant's face. It is recommended to have a recent photo, not older than 6 (six) months.
In addition to the application form, the applicant is also obliged to submit an independently recorded short audio, free theme and form, with a duration of up to 2 minutes. It is necessary to use sound effects, music and speech when creating this audio. During the entrance examination, the idea, the ability to express it and the aesthetic sense for creating a sound image are assessed. The technical quality of the recording is not crucial. The recording must be submitted on an AUDIO COMPACT DISC (format CD AUDIO, 44.1kHz, 16 bit, stereo, and not DATA, such as MP3, WAV, AIFF...). In addition to an AUDIO COMPACT DISK, the applicant has to submit a detailed explanation of the audio devices used to create the audio and the work procedure. The name and surname of the applicant, name and duration of the audio and the information concerning whether it is mono or stereo have to be written on the submitted COMPACT DISC.
The applicant must also submit a general medical certificate and a special certificate on hearing status with an audiogram issued by an official specialized medical institution, which must not be older than 6 (six) months.
The exam consists of four elimination parts:
FIRST PART
Written test of basic knowledge in the field of general knowledge and awareness, film, television, radio, theater, music and audio technology. The test consists of 60 questions. Duration of the test is 30 minutes.
Applicants who answer at least 38 questions correctly qualify for the second part of entrance examination.
Points system: An applicant can earn a maximum of 3 (three) points. Applicants who earn a minimum of 1 (one) point qualify for the second elimination part of the exam. Applicants who answer fewer than 38 questions correctly earn 0 (zero) points.
SECOND PART
a) Musicality test
b) A written analysis of the sound image of a film insert that will be shown during examination.
An applicant who has successfully passed the musicality test qualifies for the third part of the exam.
Points system: An applicant can earn a maximum of 3 points. An applicant who earns a minimum of 2 points qualifies for the third elimination part of the exam.
THIRD PART
a) Tests the ability to recognize sounds, musical instruments and musical compositions;
b) Tests affinities and basic knowledge in the field of audio technology and computers.
Points system: An applicant can earn a maximum of 4 points. An applicant who earns a minimum of 3 points qualifies for the fourth elimination part of the exam.
FOURTH PART
a) Interview – during the interview, affinities, abilities, personality traits and general interests of an applicant for the study program are considered.
b) Analysis of required practical exercise submitted on an audio compact disk.
c) Practical test of applicant’s creative abilities.
Points system: An applicant can earn a maximum of 70 (seventy) points.
- MANAGEMENT AND PRODUCTION IN THEATER, RADIO AND CULTURE
The affinities and abilities test consists of three elimination parts:
FIRST PART
A written test in general knowledge. The test consists of sixty questions which applicants have 15 minutes to answer. Applicants who answer at least 41 test questions correctly qualify for the second part of the exam.
POINTS SYSTEM
The first part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 6 points.
An applicant who earns a minimum of 4.1 points qualifies for the second part of the exam.
SECOND PART
Written paper – an essay on one of six topics – theater, radio or culture (120 min).
POINTS SYSTEM
The second part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 4 points.
An applicant who earns 0 points will not qualify for the third elimination part of the exam.
THIRD PART
Interview with the exam board.
POINTS SYSTEM
The third part – an applicant can earn a maximum of 70 points.
Only the applicant who passes the affinities and abilities test can be ranked on the single ranking list. The Faculty ranks applicants who have passed the affinities and abilities test according to the number of total points earned: government-funded (tuition-free) students are ranked above self-funded students.
The student can be government-funded if he/she is ranked up to the number approved for enrollment of applicants exempt from tuition, which is determined by this application process, and has at least 51 points.
The applicant can be enrolled as a self-funded student, if he/she is ranked up to the number approved for enrollment of self-funded students on the single ranking list, which is determined by this application process, and has earned at least 31 points.
If two applicants have the same number of points, an applicant who has a higher number of points in the affinities and abilities test will be ranked higher.

EXAM SCHEDULE FOR AFFINITIES AND ABILITIES TESTS:
- Acting: starting June 21, 2019 at 9 AM – oral examination.
- Theatre and Radio Directing: June 21, 2019 at 10 AM – written examination.
- Dramaturgy: June 24, 2019 at 2 PM – film projection.
- Management and Production in Theatre, Radio and Culture Department: June 21, 2019 at 10 AM – general knowledge test, 1 PM to 4 PM written paper – essay. Third part – interview will be held on Tuesday, June 25, and Wednesday, June 26, 2019.
- Film and Television Directing: June 21, 2019 at 9 AM – test, 10 AM to 2 PM – film projection and written paper.
- Film and Television Production: June 24, 2019 at 10 AM – test.
- Camera: June 24, 2019 at 10 AM.
- Editing: June 21, 2019 at 12 PM – written test.
- Sound recording and design: June 24, 2019 at 9 AM – general knowledge test.
All other conditions for applying will be in accordance with the general terms of the joint student application process for enrollment in the first year of undergraduate studies.
Applicants are obliged to bring their ID card or passport when coming to the exam.
For the application process, applicants may submit certified copies of documents or uncertified copies with original documents for inspection. For enrollment, however, only original documents may be submitted.
Applications for entrance examination
Applicants must submit their applications with necessary documents on June 18 and 19, 2019, from 9 AM to 2 PM, to the Secretariat of the Faculty.
The applicants must submit:
- An application form, which is received at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts on the day of submission of documents,

Terms for enrollment of foreign citizens
Excerpt from Statute of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts
Article 33
A foreign citizen can enroll in all study programs organized by the Faculty under the same conditions as a national citizen.
A foreign citizen can enroll in study programs if he/she knows the language in which lessons are delivered.
A foreign citizen is enrolled in the status of a self-funded student.
The amount for scholarship for foreign students is determined by the Faculty Council for each school year.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Applicants applying for the affinities and abilities test to enroll in the first year of undergraduate academic studies and having completed secondary education abroad, are obliged to submit a request for validation of their foreign high school documents (certificates and diploma) to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.
These applicants, in addition to other required documents for the affinities and abilities test, must also submit the decision on diploma validation or a certificate from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia that the process of diploma validation has been initiated.
