OUR RESULTS WITHIN THE INTERNATIONAL PROJECT "STRONGER PERIPHERIES" IN 2024
Within the framework of the final year of implementation of the European project "Stronger Peripheries: A Southern Coalition" at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, a large number of different and important activities of an international or local character were carried out.
The central place by the international conference "Towards Stronger Peripheries: New Coalitions and Politics of Solidarity", which we organized from May 27 to 31, 2024 in Belgrade, in the premises of the Faculty, as well as the Yugoslav Cinematheque, the Youth Center of Belgrade, the Cultural Center "Magacin" and the Cultural Center "Grad".
Based on the research results of this project, the team of the FDA has prepared several scientific articles and chapters that have been published or are awaiting publication. The international collection created within the project as a publication of the Institute of the University of Lisbon ISCTE "Stronger Peripheries: Building Southern Coalition in Performing Arts" contains an overview of the research results, not only of the FDA on this project, but also of other universities and artistic organizations in the consortium - the University of Barcelona, Montpellier and others. All interested colleagues, as well as students, can access the book for free and download their electronic copy.
Additionally, a scientific article created within this project will soon be published in the Proceedings of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts no. 46 under the title "New paradigms of residential programs in the performing arts", and the other a little later in the scientific journal "Ethnoanthropological problems" of the Faculty of Philosophy. Finally, based on the work on this and other FDA projects, the collection "Subaltern Knowledge in Cultural Practices: Fostering Fairness, Cooperation and Care" was published by the University of Arts in Belgrade. The focus of the FDA research within this project was on the following topics:
• Needs to strengthen the capacity of artists and professionals in the performing arts in the countries participating in the project
• Residential programs as instruments of cultural policy
• Specificities of cultural policy and international cultural cooperation in the countries of southern Europe, etc.
An important event at the end of the project at the international level was held in Portugal in 2024, where the FDA delegation consisted of prof. emerita dr Milena Dragićević Šešić, vice-dean of the FDA and assistant professor dr Jovana Karaulić, research associate dr Ksenija Marković Božović, assistant professor Tijana Grumić, teaching assistant Jelena Knežević and project associate Tijana Mićanović, who on that occasion viewed most of the co-productions created within the project during the previous years. More on the co-productions and the topics that artists were responding through in their works please see in the following videos we produced.
The results of the "Stronger Peripheries" project were presented by members of the FDA team this year at several international conferences, congresses and gatherings in 2024, such as the ICCPR International Conference on Cultural Policy Research in Warsaw in August 2024, the ENCATC European Cultural Management Congress in September 2024 in Lecce, Italy, the European Association for Theater and Performance Research in Sitges, Spain in October 2024, and more.
In 2024 activities in Serbia were, besides funding from European Union through the program „Creative Europe“, co-funded by the Ministry of Science – primarily the conference held in May, while the results of the open call for co-funding of the Ministry of Culture are still not public.
